We'll explore melody harmony, and improvisation in a combo- like setting permitting students to “sit in” with guitar and/or bass accompaniment. We’ll also look at the works of Luiz Bonfa, Clifford Brown, Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, Bobby Timmons, and Jerome Kerns. The course is taught by long- time Common Ground mandolinist Tim Porter with jazz guitarist Joe Selly, and is primarily for intermediate and beyond players, but all players are welcome and will find it worthwhile.
